Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions families ask most often before placing a loved one with RichWell.

Costs & Funding

How much does it cost to place a loved one with RichWell?

Monthly rates vary depending on the level of support required, the specific home, and the funding source. RichWell is committed to affordability — our rates are designed to be accessible for individuals on SSI, SSDI, HCS waivers, VA benefits, and other fixed-income sources. We will provide a clear, transparent rate sheet during your needs assessment so there are no surprises.

Does RichWell accept SSI, SSDI, HCS waivers, or VA benefits?

Yes. RichWell works with a wide range of funding sources including SSI, SSDI, HCS (Home and Community-Based Services) waivers, TxHmL waivers, VA benefits and HUD-VASH, Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, Medicaid, and private pay. If you are unsure about your loved one’s funding eligibility, our team can help you navigate the options and connect you with the appropriate resources.

Are there any placement or referral fees for families?

RichWell does not charge families a placement or referral fee. Our goal is to remove barriers — not create them. Any applicable costs are associated with the monthly residential rate, which is disclosed fully before any commitment is made.

Wait Times & Availability

How long does the placement process typically take?

The timeline varies based on availability, the complexity of your loved one’s needs, and funding verification. In many cases, placements can be completed within 2–4 weeks of initial inquiry. Emergency placements are handled as a priority — if your situation is urgent, please call us directly at 832-730-2480 or after hours at 713-894-0048.

What if there are no available beds right now?

If a placement is not immediately available, we will add your loved one to our priority waitlist and contact you as soon as a suitable opening becomes available. We will also do our best to connect you with interim resources or partner organizations that can help bridge the gap while you wait.

How quickly will someone respond to my inquiry?

We aim to respond to all inquiries within 1–2 business days. For urgent or emergency situations, please call us directly rather than waiting for a form response. Our after-hours line (713) 894-0048 is available for time-sensitive situations outside of normal business hours.

Move-In Requirements

What documents are required before move-in?

Standard move-in documentation typically includes:

  • Government-issued photo ID (or birth certificate for those without ID)
  • Social Security card or SSI/SSDI award letter
  • Proof of income or benefits verification
  • Current medical records and medication list
  • Any relevant psychological or behavioral assessments
  • Signed resident agreement and house rules acknowledgment
  • Emergency contact information for family or guardian

Our team will provide a complete move-in checklist specific to your loved one’s situation during the placement process.

What is included in the monthly rate? What should my loved one bring?

Monthly rates typically include furnished room, utilities (electricity, water, internet), meals or kitchen access, and basic household supplies. Residents are encouraged to bring personal items — clothing, toiletries, family photos, and any comfort items that make the space feel like home. A detailed list of what is included and what to bring will be provided before move-in day.

Can family members visit after move-in?

Absolutely. Family involvement is strongly encouraged at RichWell. Visits are welcomed and we believe maintaining family connection is essential to a resident’s well-being and sense of belonging. Specific visiting guidelines will be shared during the move-in process to ensure a smooth experience for all residents in the home.

What makes RichWell different from a nursing home or assisted living facility?

RichWell homes are intentionally designed to feel like a real home — not an institution. Residents live in community residential settings with house-style environments, shared common areas, and individualized attention. Unlike large assisted living facilities, our homes are smaller, more personal, and more affordable. We serve populations that institutional care often overlooks, and we do so with the warmth of a family — because that is exactly how RichWell was founded.
